Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role of emotional instability as a trigger factor in crime acts within the phenomenon of crime of passion from a criminological perspective. The research applies a normative juridical method with conceptual and case approaches. The findings indicate that emotional conditions such as anger, jealousy, and resentment significantly contribute to impulsive aggressive behavior without prior planning. In Indonesian criminal law, such emotional conditions do not eliminate criminal responsibility, and offenders remain subject to legal sanctions. Therefore, strengthening self-control and social support systems is essential in preventing emotion-driven crimes
